Ingredients
  

Tea and Pearls

  • 1 bag tea black, green, oolong, etc
  • ½ cup quick-cooking tapioca pearls 75 g
  • 2 tablespoon sugar brown, white, granulated
  • 3 teaspoon vanilla extract (4 teaspoon if desired)
  • 1 cup milk I used unsweetened oat milk

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 handful ice cubes for serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Prepare tea by adding 1 tea bag to 1 cup (235ml) of boiled water.
  • Steep for 5 minutes & then let cool down completely.
  • Add tapioca pearls to a small saucepan filled with boiling hot water. Simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  • Reserve 2 tablespoons of water and drain the rest.
  • Add sugar and the reserved water to the cooked boba pearls. Stir well and set aside.
  • Fill two tall glasses with ice. Add boba pearls. Then add vanilla extract on top.
  • Add cold tea and cold milk on top. Stir well & enjoy!

Notes

If you don't mix it well, the vanilla will stay on the bottom. To serve hot, skip the ice cubes and add piping hot tea and milk. Black tea can have a slightly bitter flavor if steeped too long. Adjust the consistency of boba pearls to your taste. Want to maximize the vanilla flavor? Add two kinds of vanilla - for example, vanilla extract & vanilla paste.
