Ingredients
  

Dough

  • 1 cup Sourdough Discard Ensure it's at room temperature.
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour Main structure component.
  • 1 cup Warm Water Activates the yeast.
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast Essential for leavening.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Helps yeast fermentation.

Garlic Butter

  • ½ cup Unsalted Butter Best when melted.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced for best flavor.
  • ¼ cup Fresh Parsley Can be substituted with other herbs.

Filling

  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Creates gooey layers.
  • ¼ cup Grated Parmesan Optional for added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Optional for spice.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix together your sourdough discard, warm water, and instant yeast. Let this sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes bubbly.
  • Gently add the all-purpose flour, salt, and sugar into the bowl. Stir until the mixture forms a shaggy dough.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and slightly tacky.

Rising and Baking

  • Place the dough in a clean bowl, cover it, and allow it to rise in a warm spot for approximately 1 hour.
  • In a small bowl, blend melted butter, minced garlic, and parsley. This will infuse your bread with flavor.
  • Roll the dough into a ½-inch thick rectangle, brush with garlic butter, sprinkle cheese, cut into squares, and stack in a greased pan.
  • Cover the pan and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let your masterpiece cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
