  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (red, green, or yellow), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the beef, onion, and bell pepper. Mince the garlic.
  • Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the Beef: Add the sliced beef to the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  • Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Return Beef: Add the beef back into the skillet with the vegetables.
  • Make the Gravy: In a bowl, mix beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, salt, paprika, and garlic powder. Pour this mixture into the skillet.
  • Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Thicken Gravy: In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water to make a slurry. Gradually add this to the skillet, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
  • Adjust Seasoning: Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Serve: Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
