Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x9-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
  • Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Incorporate the softened butter using your hands or a mixer until a dough forms, resembling wet sand.
  • Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until it's lightly golden around the edges. Allow it to cool slightly.
  • Toast the shredded coconut by spreading it on a baking sheet and placing it in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  • Heat the caramel sauce and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until smooth.
  • Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the cooled cookie base. Then, sprinkle the toasted coconut on top, pressing down gently.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth. Drizzle over the top of the bars.
  • Refrigerate the bars for at least 1 hour to allow them to set before cutting them into squares.
