Equipment

  • oven
  • large bowl
  • medium saucepan
  • parchment paper
  • cooling rack

Ingredients

Hot Honey Orange Juice Sauce

  • 1.25 cups Florida Orange Juice
  • 0.5 cups honey
  • 0.75 teaspoon red pepper flakes to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 0.25 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley to garnish finished wings (optional)

Chicken Wings

  • 3 pounds chicken wing sections
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. If using an air fryer or convection oven, reduce the heat to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and place a cooling rack over top to fit.
  • Add the wing sections to a large bowl and dry well with paper towels. Drizzle with oil, then season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional red pepper flakes. Toss well to coat.
  • Arrange the wings on the cooling rack over the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, and avoid crowding the wings.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until wings reach desired crispiness and reach a minimum internal temperature of 165°F.
  • While the wings cook, prepare the hot honey orange sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine orange juice, honey, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, orange zest, and apple cider vinegar.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it boil for 3-5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine cornstarch and cold water in a separate container and whisk until smooth.
  • Very slowly, while whisking constantly, drizzle in the cornstarch slurry a little at a time until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
  • Remove sauce from heat and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • After wings are done cooking, toss them in the hot honey-orange sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
