Ingredients
  

  • 1 teaspoon active dry or instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup warm water (between 100-110°F, 38-43°C)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil plus 2 teaspoons for brushing the dough
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning optional

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Whisk the yeast, sugar, and warm water together in the bowl of your stand mixer. Loosely cover and allow to sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy and frothy on top.
  • Add the flour, olive oil, and salt (and garlic/seasoning if using). Mix on low speed with the dough hook attachment until combined, about 2 minutes.
  • Knead the dough for an additional 6-8 minutes until it is ready to rise.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and allow to sit and rest for 45 minutes at room temperature.
  • Preheat oven to 475°F (246°C).
  • Punch the dough down, divide in half, and shape into ¼ inch thick flatbreads.
  • Transfer the shaped dough to a baking sheet or pizza stone.

Notes

This dough can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
