  • 1.5 pounds ground beef lean 80/20 for flavor
  • 1 large yellow onion diced fine
  • 2 cloves garlic minced, fresh is best
  • 2 cans (15 oz) kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans drained and rinsed
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes with juice
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder adjust to heat tolerance
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika for added flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions
 

  • In a slow cooker, add the ground beef, yellow onion, garlic, kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and beef broth.
  • Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
