Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Add minced garlic for the last minute of cooking. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and the cooled onion mixture. Mix until just combined.
  • Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.
  • While the meatballs are baking, heat beef broth in a small saucepan. Add any remaining caramelized onions and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Once meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven. Place shredded cheese on top of each meatball and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let the meatballs cool for a few minutes. Drizzle with warm beef broth and garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
